For 17 years the Technology and Construction Solicitors’ Association (“TeCSA”) has represented solicitors involved in litigation in the Technology and Construction Court (“TCC”), which involves construction, engineering, technology and IT disputes. In fact, TeCSA now has involvement in most methods of dispute resolution that involve those industries.
TeCSA enjoys a high profile. It is regularly consulted by the DTI, the Judges of TCC, the Law Society, the Construction Industry Council and the Construction Umbrella Group on matters affecting the Construction Industry.
By becoming involved in TeCSA’s work and/or contributing to TeCSA’s responses to consultations, TeSCA members are able to influence the policy and decision making of those important bodies and organisations.
TeCSA currently has 250 members each of whom has considerable experience of practising law in the construction, engineering technology and/or IT fields. TeCSA’s principal objective is to encourage higher standards and greater efficiency in the conduct of ADR (including adjudication), arbitration and litigation in the TCC. This brochure provides TeCSA members with more detail about what TeCSA actually does in practice to achieve its principal objective.
TeCSA members (and junior lawyers within members’ firms and organisations) are encouraged to participate in the various initiatives outlined in the mission statements set out in this brochure and to contribute their ideas and experience to make sure that TeCSA has the best chance of achieving its principal objectives.
If anything you read in this brochure encourages you to contribute in any way – if only to share your experience or opinion – please do so by contacting one of the TeCSA members named alongside each mission statement.
It is TeCSA’s aim to increase its membership in 2007, particularly to solicitors practising in house and in the regions. We also aim to encourage and strengthen the “Technology” membership and activities of TeCSA (the main focus of most members being “Construction”).
